Honda announced that it achieved all-time record car sales in the European market in 2007 with 398,960 units, an increase of 21.5% over 2006. This is the fourth consecutive calendar year Honda has posted record sales in Europe, whilst national sales records where broken in 32 of the 37 countries in the region. In particular, sales in Romania, Ukraine and Russia where all more than doubled. In Sweden, sales where up over 60%, whilst Norway saw seen an increase of 55%. These markets where followed by France, Greece and Poland with increases above 30%, and Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark which all increased their year-on-year sales in excess of 20%.
A key aspect of the Japanese carmaker’s successful European year was the popularity of the all-new Civic, Honda's main model in Europe, with sales across the Europe rising by 41.7% to 160,082 over the year. The CR-V launched in early 2007, also saw sales rise by 77.3% to a record 90,562. In particular, CR-V diesel sales increased by 72.7 % and this is now Honda's biggest selling diesel model.
