Even though some media reports suggested the opposite, General Motors spokesman Terry Rhadigan set the record straight officially confirming that the convertible version of the new Camaro has not been canceled and that it will be available in the market sometime in early 2011. "The convertible was never canceled. It was retimed. It will be the first quarter of 2011 for the start of production," said Rhadigan. The GM spokeperson told Automotive News that the company's original plan was to introduce the Camaro Convertible that will be equipped with an electric-folding softop in early 2010.
"We always thought it would be one year after the coupe," he said. "Instead we are going two." As expected, Rhadigan told AN that the production version of the Camaro Convertible concept will be offered with the same V6 and V8 engines as the Coupe model that recently went on sale in the U.S.
