Volkswagen is introducing a cut-price, two-wheel-drive version of its Tiguan compact that will be initially available in Germany but other markets are expected to follow shortly after. While the FWD Tiguan may lack the off-road and most likely, the towing abilities of its four-wheel drive sisters, the front-drive architecture is expected to trim the vehicle's CO2 emissions and boost fuel economy. The two-wheel-drive Tiguan will be offered with two powertrain options, the 1.4-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 150HP and the 2.0 TDI diesel with 140HP.
In the German market prices start from €25,800 for the FWD Tiguan 1.4 TSI and from €27,900 for the more fuel efficient diesel variant with the 2.0 TDI engine.
