During a pre-show media event at the Shanghai International Motor Show today (April 19, 2007) Mazda announced that the Chinese version of its it all-new Mazda2 will be produced at the Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. (CFMA) plant in Nanjing. Although there’re no photos out yet, Mazda claims that it has specifically developed the Nanjing-made Mazda2 model to suit the tastes of the Chinese market –whatever that means… The Nanjing plant will have an annual capacity of 160,000 units and the first Chinese Mazda2 will roll-off production lines by the end of 2007.
