Power crazy Germany is lifting up the HP bar once again. This time it's Audi who announced the worlds first the first twelve-cylinder diesel engine in a series passenger car which simultaneously gains the title of being the most powerful diesel engine around the block (production series). To be presented at the Paris Motor Show, this six-litre V12 will make its debut in the Audi Q7 producing a colossal 500 Hp and an even more astonishing 1.000 Nm or 101,9 kgm of torque which is available from just 1,750 rpm... The V12 TDI transmits this power through a new six-speed tiptronic gearbox to the quattro permanent four-wheel drive.
According to Audi, the top spec Q7 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, and has an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h. And all that with an average fuel consumption of just 11.9 litres per 100 kilometres or 23.7 miles per gallon. Finally, the Audi Q7 V12 TDI will conform to the Euro 5 emissions class which will come into force in 2010 and demand a reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions in Europe.
