While it won't win any beauty contests, the Terrain's rugged styling will most likely have a certain appeal to SUV buyers though we must say its rear-end styling looks like an addition of the last moment. Inside, the differences between the Terrain and the Chevy Equinox are much less evident and concern details like the door panels and trim options.
As with the Equinox, the Terrain will be offered with two powertrains, a new, 2.4-liter direct injection four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower that delivers an estimated 30 mpg highway, 21 mpg city (EPA certification pending) and a 3.0-liter direct injected V6 engine with 264 horsepower that returns an estimated 25 mpg highway, 18 mpg city (EPA certification pending). Both are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and are offered in front- or all-wheel drive versions.
The 2010 Terrain will hit GMC dealerships in late summer and will be available in SLE and SLT trim levels.
